Bettendorf's Alli Wroblewski signed with the University of South Dakota and will become a Coyote this fall. Read below to find out how she got started running, how she made her decision, and what goals she has for the future.
What are your favorite events to compete in on the track?
My favorite events are the open 400, the 4x400, and the 4x100.What made you interested in running in those events?
I have always loved how competitive and challenging it is to run a 400. I also enjoy running the 4x400 because it's the most exciting event of a meet.
In your final high school track season, what are you hoping to accomplish?
This season, I am hoping to bring home multiple state titles. I'm also hoping to set new PR's in all my races.
How did you make the decision to sign with USD?
I had the chance to visit many other schools, but in the end I thought USD was the best fit. I was very impressed with their new facilities and their brand new outdoor track. I also felt they had a great coaching staff. USD also has a great sports management program which will be my major.
What are you most looking forward to about college? I am looking forward to competing against elite competition and reaching my potential by training year-round. I can't wait to travel to different meets across the country.
What hopes do you have for your collegiate career?
I hope to contribute at the Summit League Championships and qualify for the NCAA Regional and NCAA Championships.
Do you have any pre-race rituals or superstitions?
The morning of a meet, I always have a strawberry refresher from Starbucks. I also wear the same socks throughout the entire season.
You were also recruited to play softball in college. What schools were you considering for softball? How did you make the decision to compete in track instead?
It was a very difficult decision I had to make between softball and track. Growing up, I always thought that I would play softball in college, however, my love for track grew as I started to compete in high school, especially at big meets like the Drake Relays and the State meet.
