WATCH Joy Ripslinger's 3 Straight Wins In 3 States To Prep For New Balance Nationals!

Joy Ripslinger, who is heading to New York City this weekend to compete in the fast section of the championship girls 800 meter run at New Balance Nationals, tuned up for her big race on Monday winning the 3K at the A.D. Dickinson Relays in a state leading time of 10:33.

Last Wednesday at the Quad Cities Invitational in Rock Island, Illinois, Ripslinger put down another quality time in winning the 1600 meter run with a 5:01.63 effort. Ripslinger had run 5:01 for the full mile back in January in a third place finish at the Arkansas High School Invitational.

Sunday at New Balance Nationals will be Ripslinger's second 800 meter race of the season as she traveled to Columbia, Missouri to win the Big River Running Indoor Championships on February 19th in a time of 2:11.95.

The senior from Assumption High School finished 7th (2:11.82) in last year's New Balance Nationals Indoor and improved her 800 PR down to 2:07.51 to win her second straight Iowa state outdoor title in the event. She qualified and competed in the USATF Junior Nationals last June in Fresno, California.
