Hear From the Coaches: University of Northern Iowa

Interested in running in college? Hear from Coach Alex Wilson at UNI about their program and why you should consider it for your collegiate career!

"UNI is the perfect balance of a smaller classroom setting and competing on the biggest stage in track and field and cross country. With a classroom size average of 25-30 students and 99% of those classes being taught by professors with their PHD, student athletes at Northern Iowa receive a world class education while pursuing their goals in track and field.  The people around campus work hard on our students behalf and are genuinely invested in their success.

Our coaching philosophy revolves around developing the entire person both on and off the track. We work diligently to find what works best for each individual within our training programs and do our best to help all of our Student-Athletes reach their full potential. We strive to create a team culture that cultivates a healthy competitive environment that will bring out the best in each Student-Athlete.

The best way for prospective Student-Athletes to contact us in regards to recruiting is to  fill-out our online questionnaire on the UNI Track and Field website. Here is the link to our questionnaire: https://college.jumpforward.com/questionnaire.aspx?iid=537&sportid=56 . Also, sending video is extremely helpful to coaches.

Our best advice to prospective Student-Athletes is to take multiple college visits and see what each program has to offer. Ultimately, you want to  to find a program that is going to help your grow not only academically and athletically, but as a person as a whole."
