3A Returners: Who Will Fight for the Title?

As we enter the start of the cross country season, take a look at who will be returning this year to fight for the individual and team titles in Class 3A.

Individual Championship Race - Girls
Adrianna Katcher of Center Point-Urbana High School won the 3A Individual title as a freshman. She will be the favorite to defend her State title again this year. Julia Schumacher will represent powerhouse Assumption High school. Julia finished 3rd last year and will be one of the favorites to end up top of the podium, fighting for that lead spot with Katcher. Sophia Gilbert of Benton Community High School and Raegan Andersen of Denison-Schleswig High School are other returners that will play a big factor in the individual race.

Team Champs - Girls
Decorah High School pulled off the team title with a score of 102 points, followed by Pella with a score of 106. Decorah High School had 3 seniors from their championship team. Pella will have to replace 4 of their top 7 runners as they look to fight for that team title this year. Dubuque Wahlert High School placed 5th place as a team in 2016 and did not graduate any of their top 7, certainly making them one of the favorites to the team championship at Fort Dodge this year.
