2A Returners: Who Will Fight for the Title?

Individual Championship Race - Boys
Andrew Stumbo of Ogden High School has graduated after winning an individual state title in 2015 and 2016. With his departure, Reece Smith of Garner-Hayfield High School will look to claim the individual crown this year after placing 2nd last year. Gable Sieperda of Central Lyon High School will try to compete for his first individual title, having finished in the top 6 every year so far. Spencer Moon of South Central Calhoun High School and Mason Tyler of Aplington Parkersburg High School will also be athletes in the mix for the title this year.

Team Champs - Boys
Mid-Prairie High School won the 2016 team title with a score of 98 points, and while they graduated 2 of their top 7 from last year, their top 5 scorers are all returning, keeping them as the favorites to win this year. Western Christian High School will be another team competing for the team title after placing 3rd last year with only 2 seniors graduating last year. George-Little rock is another young team to watch this year coming back from a 4th place finish. They had 5 freshman/sophomores last year and no seniors to lose. Returning so many strong athletes give them a great shot to improve and try to take the team title from Mid-Prairie High School.
