IOWA CITY, IOWA -- Drake freshman Kevin Harp enjoyed a successful homecoming by winning the javelin at the Iowa Invitational Saturday. The Iowa City, Iowa, native had a winning throw of 172 feet eight inches.
Freshman Isaac Twombly (Baldwin City, Kan.) set a Drake school record in the hammer throw at 164-8, bettering the previous mark of 159-1 by Greg Coleman in 1987.
Drake sophomore Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.), the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track Runner of the Week, finished fourth in the 400 hurdles, being clocked in 53.28 seconds.
DeGrave anchored Drake to second-place in the 4x400 relay which was timed in 3:19.54.
Drake junior AJ Fajimolu (Jos, Nigeria) was third in the triple jump at 44-3.25, while senior Josh Bangert (Washington, Mo.) was fourth in the long jump at 21-11.
Sophomore Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) was fifth in the 100 (10.95) and seventh in the 200 (21.87).
Senior Troy Kimberlin (Rochester, Ill.) was fifth in the 400 in 49.48. Kimberlin, senior Kevin Earl (Overland Park, Kan.) and junior Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.) also ran on the 4x400 relay.
Sophomore Colin Hagan (Wichita, Kan.) placed seventh in the 1,500 in 4:05.05. Junior Luke Schafer (Centennial, Colo.) was ninth in the 3,000 in 9:05.6, while sophomore Ben Jaskowiak (Madison, Wis.) was 10th in 9:08.95.
Freshman Charlie Lapham (Golden Valley, Minn.) was seventh in the 800 in 1:55.56.
