=============================================

When & how did you get started in cross country, or generally in your running career?

I started running track in junior high, but have always loved distance running.  However, I did volleyball my freshman year.  Then after a fun year in track the next spring, switched over to XC as a sophomore.

Person/people most influential to your success in cross country, or generally in your running career?

My coach Don Williams is the key to my success.  He challenges me everyday at practice; and his passion for running is contagious.  My parents and sister are also very supportive, and help keep me motivated.

Your cross country coach(es)?

Don Williams and Erica Brenden

Keys to your successful training program?

Lots of hard work in the off-season.  I run six days a week, and spend quite a bit of time in the pool cross training.  I also do core strength training.  As we get farther into the season my coach designs workouts to put the team where we need to be for the next meet.

Why do you enjoy cross country?

I just love the feeling you get after a really good workout or race.  I also love the team aspect; everyone's score really does matter.

Your favorite cross-country meet(s)?

I love the course at Pella!  It’s the perfect mix of hills and winding trails.

Cross country athlete(s) you most enjoy competing against?

Anna Holdiman from Waverly!!  She is an awesome competitor and faith driven runner.  (Good luck this year Anna!!)  I also enjoy racing against the Bettendorf girls (Anna Peer, Mahnee Watts, & Megan Nickles)!!

Your greatest cross country experience in your career so far?

State XC my sophomore year.  It was my first year at State XC because I did volleyball as a freshman.  I really had no idea what I was doing.  The race started and all of a sudden it was over and I had finished second behind Shelby Houlihan.

Goals for the 2012 cross country season?

To remain healthy and injury free, top 3 at state, and hopefully break 14 minutes in the 4k.  And to stand on the deck with my team at State.

Long-term goals in cross  country, or generally in your running career?

Have a good senior year, and continue my running career in college.
