1.      When & how did you get started in track & field?

I started in Jr. High; and because I played basketball and volleyball, I decided to go out for track too.

2.      Person/people most influential to your success in track & field?

Coach Hartigan and Coach Owens are the two most influential to my success.  They are both very good coaches, and know how to get me to reach my best.  They both know when I am being a head case too, and can usually get me out of that.

3.      Your favorite track & field event(s)?

My favorite event is the 400 hurdles because it’s challenging; and I like telling people that I run that event because they think I am crazy.

4.      Your track & field event coach(es)?

Gail Hartigan and Steve Owens

5.       Keys to your successful track & field training program?

Coach Hartigan is the key.  She knows which event to put each girl in, and she knows how to get us to reach our potential during practices and meets.

6.      Your favorite track & field meet(s)?

My favorite meet is the Drake Relays.  I like to compete against girls that are the best in the state no matter what the class.  I also like to watch the college events while I am there.

7.      Track & field athlete(s) you most enjoy competing against?

I really enjoyed running against Lacy Vokt in the 100 hurdles and Rebekah Topham in the 400 hurdles; because we are all in the same conference so we had a lot of meets together.  It would always be a close race with both; and we became friends because of it, which was really cool.

8.      Most memorable experience in track & field so far?

My most memorable experience would be at state track last year when I was going for the record in the high jump, and the announcer went over the intercom telling people to watch at the pit for my record break.  I remember how quiet it was until I cleared the bar, and then how crazy and loud it became in the stadium.

9.      Greatest accomplishment(s) in track & field so far?

Getting to go to Drake every year has been a great accomplishment; but I think my greatest accomplishment would be taking the high jump championship for the second year along with the record breaking and personal best jump.

10.   Goals for the 2013 track & field season?

I would love to win the high jump at the Drake Relays.  It would be pretty cool if I won at state again too.  Another goal would be to win at state at something other than high jump.

11.   If a senior, college/university you will attend, or schools you are considering?

I am attending the University of Northern Iowa next year, and doing track there.

      12.  Long-term goals in track & field?

Someday I hope to accomplish jumping 6 feet or higher in the high jump.
