Girls 800m

Aleta Looker of Ellsworth got out hard as she covered the first 400m in 63 seconds. She would hold on to finish 6th in the fastest section 1 and smash the Maine all-time best for 800m with her 2:11.58. The old record held by former Bonny Eagle standout Wendy Delan was 2:13.69 set way back in 1987. Looker's time is the fastest ever indoor/outdoor in state history, she ended up 7th overall as a girl from heat 1 ran .37 faster.

Men's 2 Mile

Josef Holt-Andrews has had a light racing schedule this winter, this was only his 3rd race of the year. Holt-Andrews ran with the lead pack through the mile in 4:32 where he was in 3rd place. Ellsworth's Dan Curts ran right at the back of the pack through the mile. Josef moved his way up to second during lap 9 and remained there through lap 11 where he went to the lead for a lap and half. Holt-Andrews was unable to respond to the pace increase over the last 3 laps, but fought hard to finish 6th, an earn his first indoor All-American honors. His finishing time of 9:08.91 is the second fastest two mile ever run in Maine indoor history, only behind Curts 9:07.24 from the New England championship 2 weeks ago.

It was a bittersweet race for Curts of Ellsworth who got tripped right off the line, tumbled to the track and got right back up. The race should have been restarted but for some reason wasn't, the fall clearly affected Dan mentally as the race went on as he  was unable to hang on to the pace after the mile, he would run 9:25.91.
