Individual Championship Race - Boys
Marion High School lead the pack at the
2016 state meet with Jeremy Fopma and Myles Bach finishing 1 and 2, both of whom are returning this year to fight for the title once again. Bach came back this spring to be the 3,200 meter and 1,600 meter State Champion at Drake Stadium, and will certainly look to add another title to his impressive repertoire. The third and fourth finishers at last year's
meet are also returning for their senior year. Miles Scott of Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School and Thomas Clower of Grinnell High School will both be in the
experienced pack up front.
Team Champs - Boys
Only 2 points separated the top two teams at Fort Dodge last
season. Mount Vernon High School edged out Grinnell High School with their teams
scores being 86 vs. 88. Mount Vernon graduated 4 seniors in 2017, leaving them with many unkowns going into this season.
Grinnell, however, only graduated 2, leaving them with a strong pack up front led by Clower. Other teams that
will be fighting for first places will be Dallas Center-Grimes High School,
Gilbert High School and Dubuque Wahlert High School in the
very competitive team battle.
