How Did Iowa Preps Fare at NCAA DI Nationals?


There were 9 Iowa prep athletes who competed at the NCAA Division 1 XC Championships on Saturday November 18th. Six women represented the Hawkeye State, including 2016 Champ Karissa Schweizer (Dowling Catholic) who competed for the University of Missouri. She finished in 11th place overall and by far had the best performance of an Iowan, completing the 6k course in a time of 19:47.50. Anna Mcdonald (Waverly-Shell Rock) helped Boise State to an 8th place finish. She was the 6th runner on the team finishing in 136th place. The second highest women's individual finisher was Kaley Ciluffo (Pleasant Valley) who came in 97th place and helped the Villanova Wildcats finish in 14th place. Minnesota University had two Iowans help them to a 20th place finish, including Elyse Prescott (Urbandale) in 214th place and Abby Kohut-Jackson (Ballard) in 231st. Megan Schott (Roosevelt) is the final runner on the women's side to compete. The former XC state champion placed 225th. She helped the Iowa State Cyclones finish in 18th place.

On the men's side Thomas Pollard (Gilbert) had the best performance of the day for Iowa preps. He ran 30:41.4 over the 10k course for a 98th place performance. He was the number 5 runner for the Iowa State Cyclones who finished 7th place overall as a team. The next finisher from Iowa was Andrew Ronoh (Iowa Central CC). He finished in 166th place and helped the Arkansas Razorbacks to a 9th place finish. In 196th place was Chandler Austin (Boone) for Boise State University. His performance helped the broncos finish in 21st place.
