On Saturday afternoon, Hamilton Southeastern Senior, Noah Malone, announced his commitment to Indiana State University to continue his academic and athletic career.
Malone made the announcement on both his Instagram and Twitter accounts just after competing at ISU's first home indoor meet of the season.
It is believed that Malone is the first legally blind, T12 classified, athlete to commit to a Division 1 institution. Many other athletes that Malone knows of that are also visually impaired either skipped college or went to D2 schools.
Despite first losing most of his sight in 2015, he has not lost sight of his biggest goal, making the Olympic games. He has already begun making this dream a reality, by competing in the World Para Athletics Championships last month, the Para Pan Am Games and the Para Junior World Championships in August. At the World Championships, Malone was the lead off leg for the United States 4x100 relay team, which won the first world title in the event in a time of 46.94.
He holds PR's of 10.59 and 21.31 for the 100 and 200 respectively. Malone will come into the outdoor season as the top returner in both the 100 and 200.
