Tasty Race: Justin Braun Goes 400m OH No. 1 In Season Debut

HE'S BACK! ...

Justin Braun opened his season this past weekend at the University of Akron Jerome Fields Open and wasted little time in reminding us that he's one of the country's premier quarter-milers.

The sophomore from Thomas Worthington went 49.31 to net the race win and claim Ohio's top clocking in 2020. Beyond state-lines, his effort represents the 27th best mark in America, but let's face it - he's just getting warmed up.

Braun entered our radar right around this time last year, when, as a freshman, he started dropping sub 50's like clockwork. He went on take 4th at the D1 state meet and proceeded to toe the line against the country's best at New Balance Nationals

That was just the start, though. After gaining valuable experience at the high school level during the indoor campaign, he went on to earn the OHSAA Division 1 triumph in "46.76!" Tack on a 6th place finish at NBNO and a national title at AAU JOs in the 15-16 Division (when he was on the younger side of the combined age-grouping) and we'll call it an impressive start to his prep career, to say the least.

Keep it locked on MileSplit to see what Braun does for encore performances in the coming weeks.
