AMES, IOWA - The Drake men's and women's track and field team will opened the indoor season this Friday, competing at the Iowa State Holiday Preview. Activities start at 2 p.m. at the Lied Recreation Center.
Last year then Drake sophomore
Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) won the women's triple jump, soaring 37 feet 10.75 inches. Drake also won the men's 4x300-meter relay in 2 minutes 20.63 seconds.
Then sophomore
Johanna Sprang (New Brighton, Minn./Lakeville North) was second in the women's pole vault at 11-5.75, while then sophomore
Cambria Pardner (Aurora, Colo.) was second in the long jump at 17-4.
Then junior
Caitlin Able (Aurora, Colo.) was third in the women's 300-meter dash in 41.32 and fifth in the 60 in 7.95. Junior
Sarah Havelka (Kansas City, Mo./Oak Park) was third in the women's 3,000 in 11:05.71. Then sophomore
Michelle Mitchell (Brookfield, Wis/Wisconsin Lutheran) was third in the women's high jump at 5-2.25.
Drake senior
Josh Bangert (Washington, Mo./Washington) was third in the men's long jump at 22-11.25.
Then sophomore
Beth Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa/St. Albert) placed fourth in the women's 300 in 41.91.
