AMES, IOWA -- Drake senior
Jeff Grassmeyer (Fremont, Neb.) ran a personal best en route to finishing fifth in the 3,000-meter run at the Iowa State Classic Saturday.
Grassmeyer, who owned the lead with 200 meters remaining, was timed in eight minutes 18.28 seconds in the race which featured 28 runners.
Junior
Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.) was 22nd out of 38 runners in the 600-yard run in 1:13.52. Sophomore
Jon DeGrave (LakeVilla, Ill.) was fifth out of 77 athletes in the men's unseeded 400-meter dash in 49.03.
Sophomore
Charlie Lapham (Golden Valley, Minn.) was 20th in the men's unseeded 800 in 1:54.97, while teammate senior
Kevin Earl (Overland Park, Kan.) was 31st in 1:56.44
Freshman
Kevin Harp (Iowa City, Iowa) finished 34th in the men's shot put with a throw of 47 feet 3 inches.
