AMES, IOWA  -- Junior Tyse Samani (Kansas City, Mo.) tied for seventh in the high jump to highlight action for the Drake women's track and field team at the Iowa State Classic Saturday.  Samani leaped five feet six inches.

Senior Nicole Braunsdorf (St. Francis, Wis.), making her indoor debut, was 13th in the 3,000- meter run in 9 minutes 57.97 seconds, while junior teammate Casey McDermott (Newton, Iowa) was 17th in 10:01.85.

Drake senior Caitlin Able (Aurora, Colo.) was 32nd in seeded 400 in  58.16.

Junior Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo.) was second in the women's unseeded 400-meter dash in 57.11 seconds. Junior teammate Beth Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa) was 10th in 57.73.

Four athletes competed in the women's unseeded 800-meter run with sophomore Kirsten Lake (Parker, Colo.) leading the pack by placing 22nd in 2:17.10. Junior Kara McCartney (Elgin, Iowa) was 29th in 2:18.31, while junior Clarissa LaFlora (Kewanee, Ill.) was 44th in 2:21.51 and freshman Cammy Dole (Anamosa, Iowa) placed 64th in 2:26.01.

Senior Courtney Heinz (St. Paul, Minn.) was 53rd in the unseeded mile in 5:25.70 with junior teammate Katie Coomer (Overland Park, Kan.)  56th in 5:27.20.
