CEDAR FALLS, IOWA -- Senior Josh Bangert overcame a hamstring injury to finish second in the men's long jump at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday.
Bangert soared 23 feet 10 inches.
Senior Jeff Grassmeyer (Freemont, Neb.) placed sixth in the finals of the 3,000 in 8:43.37.
Sophomore Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.) posted the second fastest qualifying time in the 400 in 49.24 seconds, while sophomore Charlie Lapham (Golden Valley, Minn.) also qualified into the finals of the 800. Lapham had the third fastest qualifying time of 1:56.54.
Sophomore Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) advanced into the finals of the 200 with a qualifying time of 22.26.
James also ran the third leg on Drake's distance medley relay which was sixth in 10:30.13. Other members of the relay were junior Colin Coomer (Overland Park, Kan.), junior Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.) and sophomore Ben Jaskowiak (Madison, Wis.).
