DES MOINES, IOWA - Sophomore
Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.) recorded the fastest time in the Missouri Valley Conference in the men's 400 meter hurdles to highlight action for the Drake men's track and field team at the Jim Duncan Invitational Saturday.
DeGrave posted a winning time of 52.60 seconds to clip Northern Iowa's Greg Offerman (52.78) who had owned the previous MVC 2010 best time of 53.00.
Drake sophomore
Shaun James (Lawrence Kan.), the reigning MVC Runner of the Week, was second in the 100 in 10.80 and third in the 200 in 21.64.
Freshman
Dan Karys (Bartlett, ill.) was third in both the long jump (22-7.75) and triple jump (46-9).
Drake senior
Jeff Grassmeyer (Fremont, Neb.) was third in the 1,500 in 3:55.29, while sophomore
Charlie Lapham (Golden Valley, Minn.) was fifth in 3:56.07 and sophomore
Colin Hagan (Wichita, Kan.) seventh in 3:56.53.
Senior
Troy Kimberlin (Rochester, Minn.) was third in the 400 in 49.08.
James, Kimberlin and DeGrave joined junior
Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.) to lead Drake to third place in the 4x400 relay in 3:19.88.
Freshman
AJ Fajimolu (Jos, Nigeria) was fourth in the triple jump at 45-0.5, while senior
Josh Bangert (Washington Mo.) was sixth in the long jump at 21-8.
Randal Carter set the lone meet record in the men's division, soaring 7-1.75 to win the high jump.
Dowling Catholic's Katie Flood just ran the fastest outdoor 1500 girls' prep time in the country this year of 4:31.38...It also is Iowa all-time best , bettering previous mark of 4:33.76 set by Betsy Flood of Dowling Catholic in 2008.
