DES MOINES, IOWA -- Sophomore
Jon DeGrave (Lake Villa, Ill.) finished fifth in the university-college 400 hurdles to highlight action for the Drake men's track and field team during the 101st running of the Drake Relays this past weekend.
DeGrave was timed in a personal best 51.50 seconds.
Senior
Jeff Grassmeyer (Fremont, Neb.) ran a personal best 3:49.88 to place seventh in the university-college 1,500.
On Friday night Grassmeyer ran the anchor leg helping the Bulldogs place 13th in the university 4x800 relay in 7:38.59. Other members of the relay were senior
Kevin Earl (Overland Park, Kan.), sophomore Charles Lapham (Golden Valley, Minn.), and junior
Brandon Lewis (Plymouth, Minn.).
Lapham ran the anchor leg on Drake's sprint medley relay which was 15th in 3:28.37. Sophomore
Shaun James (Lawrence, Kan.) led off followed by freshman
Dan Karys (Bartlett, Ill.) and junior
Troy Kimberlin (Rochester, Ill.).
James had a time of 10.93 in the preliminary round of the university-college 100.
Junior
Mike Bumgarner (Rosemount, Minn.) was 14th in the 10,000 in 32:47.56 on Thursday. Sophomore
Colin Hagan (Wichita, Kan.) was 16th in the 5,000 in 15:20.77.
Freshman
Kevin Harp (Iowa City, Iowa) was 15th in the university-college javelin at 180 feet 8 inches.
Senior
Josh Bangert (Washington, Minn.) soared 20-4.25 in the preliminary round of the university-college long jump.
