Lehmkuhle Finishes Fifth At USA Half Marathon Championships

HOUSTON, Texas - Former Drake track standout Jason Lehmkuhle (1997-2000) finished fifth at the USA Half Marathon Championships, running the road course in a time of 1:02:49.

Mohamed Trafeh won the race, which was the first race of the 2011 USA Running Circuit clocking in at 1:02:17

Lehmkuhle has a personal best in the half marathon of 1:02:32. This is the fourth time he has placed in the top five at the USA Half Marathon Championships in the past six years. He finished second in the USA Half Marathon Championships in 2008, fifth in 2007 and third in 2005. Lehmkuhle has appeared twice (2005 and 2008) on the U.S. World Half Marathon team as well.

Lehmkuhle, a native of St. Charles, Mo., owns the all-time Missouri Valley Conference record in the outdoor 10,000 meters of 28:44.91 set in 2000. He also won the individual cross-country title at the 1999 MVC Championship. Lehmkuhle was an All-American in the 5000 and 10,000 and qualified for the 2000 Olympic trials in the 10,000.
