Iowa high school track and field athletes posted several personal records and school marks at meets during the week of May 11.
Elizabeth Yount (Linn Mar) ran 12.90 in the 100 meters at the Iowa Class 4A State Qualifier Meet at North Scott, improving from her previous best of 13.57 set in March. The freshman ranks #137 in Iowa and #12 among freshmen statewide, placing 6th of 12 competitors.
Ryder O'Dowd (Missouri Valley) clocked 49.35 in the 400 meters at Iowa SMQ, breaking his previous personal record of 51.70 and setting a school record. The senior ranks #20 in Iowa and #8 among seniors, winning the event ahead of 21 other competitors. O'Dowd also ran 55.89 in the 400 hurdles, improving from 58.18.
Daylon Sam (Prairie) threw 144-3 in the discus at Trojan JV, bettering his previous mark of 127-7.5. The junior ranks #144 in Iowa and #24 among juniors, finishing 3rd of 30 competitors.
Lucy Lueken (Dubuque Wahlert) ran 2:21.24 in the 800 meters at the IGHSAU/IAHSAA 3A State Qualifier, improving from 2:28.82. The junior ranks #50 in Iowa and #12 among juniors, placing 3rd of 16 competitors.
Carsyn Adams (Griswold) ran 15.22 in the 100 hurdles at SQM FM, improving from 16.07 and setting a school record. The junior ranks #37 in Iowa and #5 among juniors, finishing 2nd of 20 competitors.
Baron Davis (Knoxville) ran 51.66 in the 400 meters at Pella HS Coed, improving from his previous best of 53.95 set in May 2026. Davis ranks #146 in Iowa and won the event ahead of nine other competitors.
