When & how did you get started in cross country, or generally in your running career?

I've grown up in a family where running is a common interest amongst my siblings and my parents.  My dad was a cross country coach where we used to live in North Dakota, so I would tag along to practice when I was young.  Later, middle school cross country gave me the chance to actually compete in races.

Person/people most influential to your success in cross country, or generally in your running career?

My father because of his background in coaching and the guidance he has been able to provide me.  But in general, my whole family has influenced my running because of the support we give each other, and everyone is also very knowledgeable when it comes to running.

Your cross country coach(es)?

My cross country coaches are Dennis Evelsizer and Brad Johansen.  They both bring great skills to the table with Dennis as more of our running coach and Brad as our strength coach.  Both have been in the game for awhile and are very experienced coaches that know how to train their athletes.

Keys to your successful training program?

Keys to our training is completing every workout with a purpose and avoiding going out and doing garbage miles

Why do you enjoy cross country?

I enjoy cross country because of the variety it brings as compared to the track.  It also brings together guys that are in other sports in the spring and brings together some of my best friends.

Your favorite cross-country meet(s)?

My favorite meets would have to be the Luther All-American in our hometown and the Roy Griak at the University of Minnesota.

Cross country athlete(s) you most enjoy competing against?

Last year I had the opportunity of competing against Daniel Huff from Waverly multiple times in cross country and track.  It was fun getting to know him because he is a good guy and a great competitor.

Your greatest cross country experience in your career so far?

The state meet last year was an awesome day for everyone on our team.  There is nothing sweeter than putting together your best performance for the most important meet of the season.

Goals for the 2012 cross country season?

My goal for this season is to be fit enough by the end of the season where my teammates and I will be in a great position to compete come the end of October.

Long-term goals in cross  country, or generally in your running career?

I would definitely like to continue my running career somewhere in a college as well as post-collegiately to take advantage of my peak performance years.
