Tooker and Brophy went 2-3 in last year's race behind since-graduated Alex Ostberg, while Van Der Els, Groff, and Hockenbury went 1-2-3 at New Balance Nationals Indoor in the 5K. That's not a bad place to start looking for the favorites.
A fully healthy and fit Tooker would definitely be the favorite. But he missed indoor nats with an injury, and has only raced once since early mid-February. This is his outdoor season debut. If Tooker's not quite himself, watch out for Ryan Kutch, who ran 9:00 indoors.
