Tara Davis Demolishes Long Jump National Record By 4.5 Inches

Tara Davis is certainly a star -- she long jumped 21-0.25 to win the IAAF World U18 Championships in 2015 -- but on Friday night in Dallas, Texas, she proved she is on another level by absolutely demolishing the indoor national record in the long jump.

Davis, a UGA commit by way of Agoura High in Ca., jumped 21-11 (6.68m) to crush the prior record of 21-7.5 set by Carol Lewis in 1981. Lewis, of course, is the younger sister of track and field icon Carl and represented Team USA at the 1984 Olympic Games.

Davis' prior indoor best was 20-10.75. Her new mark ranks No. 7 in the world this year amongst senior athletes.
