CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Former Cedar Falls High track and field star James Harrington has decided to transfer from Alabama to the University of Iowa.
Harrington announced his decision in a statement released Thursday. He recently completed his freshman season at Alabama.
“After much thought, prayer and family input, I have decided to transfer from the University of Alabama to the University of Iowa to continue my track and field career,” Harrington said in the statement.
“This was a difficult decision for me. I want to thank the University of Alabama, Head Coach Dan Waters and the Alabama track and field staff for the opportunity given to me. I have learned some life lessons in my year at Alabama.
“I look forward to returning to my home state to compete under the direction of Head Coach Larry Wieczorek and sprint coach Joey Woody.”
