The Lions broke a pair of records during the meet, both coming in the relays. The 4x100-meter team of Alexis Taylor, Charlye Moody, Aniyah Brown and Nazariah James won in 46.14, which is a new class and overall state meet record. In the prelims, Ritter ran 46.59 to break the record for the first time, before bettering it in the final.

Cardinal Ritter's Charlye Moody hands the baton to anchor Aniyah Brown as the Lions run to the 4x100-meter Class 5 title in a new class 5 and overall state meet record time of 46.14-seconds.

Taylor was the lone returner on the 4x100 team from last year that won the title as well.

Hazelwood Central has held the previous Class 5 best of 47.56 since 2015, while McCluer South-Berkeley had the overall mark of 47.19 from 2014.

The other mark came in another relay, the 4x400-meter relay. Brown ran on that team as well, joined by Hannah Wallace, Kyndall Spain and Neveah Bryant that won in 3:50.84. The time broke the Class 5 mark set in 2015 by Lee's Summit North (3:50.99).

Super sophomore Aniyah Brown also secured individual titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes (11.41 and 23.37) for the second year in a row. She beat Staley's Jazmen Newberry in both of those races.

Cardinal Ritter sophomore Aniyah Brown was a blur at the 2022 Class 5 state track meet, winning the 100, 200, and running on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
