Rankings!!

IATC Iowa Rankings:

The Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC), through Bill Neal, does an excellent job of compiling and distributing Iowa individual and team cross country rankings, by division, through its iatfcc.org website.  They do this for media purposes, but also to help determine assignments of teams to the different District/Region meets for qualifying to the State meet.  Click here to see their preseason (8/24) individual rankings; and here for their preseason (8/15) team rankings.  IOWATFXC.COM will not post our own such rankings, instead we'll post and provide links to IATC’s, giving full credit to IATC.

MILESPLIT.COM National Rankings:

IOWATFXC.COM will post (i.e., link from) the weekly MileSplit national athlete and team rankings, beginning the week of September 10-14; girls’ individuals on Mondays, girls’ teams on Tuesdays, boys’ individuals on Wednesdays, and boys’ teams on Thursdays.  Click on the just prior links for the respective MileSplit Preseason Rankings posted in mid-August.  Between the preseason rankings and the regular weekly rankings, we’ve posted Top USA Weekly Performances; through August 25 (girls and boys) and then August 27 through September 3 (girls and boys).  You’ll notice that several Iowa athletes and teams have earned their places on these lists.  If you didn’t know, you’re IOWATFXC.COM editor is also one of the two co-editors of MILESPLIT.COM national (specifically responsible for the girls rankings); so Iowa athletes and teams will be fairly represented in the national rankings when deserved.

IOWATFXC.COM “Rankings” by Times:

If we receive results in uploadable and compilable format , the results are first uploaded and then compiled so that each athlete’s performance is available for IOWATFXC.COM’s automated athlete, team, conference, division, state, and even national statistics and “rankings”.  Following just a few simple steps, athletes can see where they “rank” (based on best times in the respective event during the season) in their conference, division, state, and even nationally.  And teams can see where they “rank” (based on best times of athletes) in a conference, division and state.

To generate individual rankings within Iowa -  go to Stats > XC Individual Rankings – High School Girls/Boys > (click on the event)

For individual rankings within a conference or division -  go to Stats > XC Individual Rankings – High School Girls/Boys > (in the League dropdown, select the conference or division) > (click on the event)

For individual rankings nationally -  go to Stats > XC Individual Rankings – High School Girls/Boys > (under Locale, select National) > (click on the event)

For team rankings statewide -  go to Stats > XC Team Rankings – High School Girls/Boys

For team rankings within a conference or division -  go to State > XC Team Rankings - High School Girls/Boys > Show Advance Parameters > (in the League dropdown, select the conference or division) > Refine

Obviously, if we don’t receive complete results from a given meet, or the results we receive are not in uploadable or compilable format, included athlete performances will not appear in the individual and team rankings.  Remind meet managers and coaches to send complete results to us at lknudson@milesplit.com or lyle.knudson@gmail.com.

Be reminded that the ratings are based on best times.  If athletes and teams run races on fast courses in good weather, they will have advantages in the rankings over those that don’t.  This is why you should use the IATC ratings for the most reliable top 15 team and 30 individual rankings.  But IOWATFXC.COM’s rankings include every athlete and team in our database, and are at least fun to play with.
