Results & Statistics

Why do some athlete/team results and statistics get in IOWATFXC.COM, and others don’t?

THE PROCESS:

A.  First we must get meet results

To include all athletes and teams in our results and statistics, we must get or find complete results.  Thanks to a few meet managers and coaches, we get those directly.  Other complete results are found at FITNESSSPORTS.COM or ASPIMEETZ.COM.  Partial results (e.g., top 5, 10, … individuals) are found at IATFCC.ORG, and a few out of newspapers.  Performances from meets which we do not receive or find, or those not included in partial results, are obviously not included in the respective athlete/team statistics.

B.  After receiving complete or partial results from a meet, we post them on IOWATFXC.COM and then compile them (i.e., reduce the results to event-athlete-team-time data lines in our huge MileSplit national database).

From that database, athlete/team/conference/division/state/national statistics are automatically generated.  For results to be posted and compiled, they must be in suitable format.  The only format which we can not process is PDF’s scanned in from results printed on paper (i.e., pictures of results).  Results in HTML format from Hytek, Raceberry Jam, or RaceTab software are uploaded and compiled directly.  Results in other formats (e.g., spreadsheets, tables, word documents, PDF’s from Hytek) must be copied and pasted into a MILESPLIT form, saved/posted in IOWATFXC.COM, converted to RaceTab, saved/posted in RaceTab format, and then compiled.

CONCLUSION:

To make sure that your athlete/team results and statistics are available in IOWATFXC.COM, do whatever necessary to make sure that we get complete results (in suitable format) from the meets in which you compete.  Send (or have sent) the results files as email attachments to lknudson@milesplit.us or lyle.knudson@gmail.com; or tell us where online we can find them.   Thanks!!
