The University of Virginia men\'s cross country team finished 30th at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships held today at the Irv Warren Memoria Golf Course in Waterloo, Iowa. The event was hosted by the University of Northern Iowa. The Cavaliers, competing in the NCAA meet for the first time since 1984, were led by Will Christian, who finished 130th overall in a 31:26.1.
The Virginia men and William & Mary had rough outings at the NCAA Division I National Championships as the two lone squads representing the state finished second to last and last in the team scoring with Virginia in 30th place (803 pts) and William & Mary in 31st place (850). William & Mary ran without star runner Ed Moran, who was forced to shut his season down due to a stress fracture.
