College freshmen Shelby Greany of Providence College and Robby Andrews of the University of Virginia will try to make the U.S. team for this summer’s World Junior Championships, to be held next month in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

While the 2010 NCAA season has come to a close, Oklahoma Track and Field athletes are still in action as a group of 13 current Sooners head to Des Moines, Iowa, this week for the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The group will also be joined at the event by three Oklahoma alums.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.) closed her collegiate career with a bang at the US Outdoor Track Field Championships over the weekend. Hayes finished broke the school-record in the 400-meter hurdles in the semifinals of the event, and went on to place seventh in the finals. After a 57.89 effort advanced her to the semifinals on Friday, Hayes recorded her record-breaking time of 56.53 to top the mark she set at the NCAA East Regionals last month by .42 seconds. In the finals, she posted a time of 57.56 to seal her seventh place finish.
Leo Manzano just missed capturing his first U.S. title in the 1,500 meters when he clocked a 3:50.91, to finish just behind Lopez Lomong (3:50.83).
