IOWA CITY, Iowa - Defending state champion Bailey Nock led Iowa City West to a Class 4A District title Thursday here at the University of Iowa. The senior cruised to victory in 18:34.3.
Nock's effort was backed by freshman Kiara Malloy-Salgado who raced to a second-place finish in 19:25.7 as West scored 29. Erica Buettner (19:34.1) came in fifth and Colleen Bloeser (19:36.8) was seventh for the champion Women of Troy.
It's Iowa City West's 23rd straight trip to the state meet. Rival Iowa City High (82) finished third Thursday, stretching its consecutive state meet streak to a state-best 30.
Cedar Falls (64) captured second place Thursday behind the third-place finish of Mackenzie Michael (19:27.9). Cedar Rapids Prairie's Laurdyn Meyer (19:30.2) came in fourth.
