Sprint Events - Top Performers
JJ McDermott, Bettendorf - McDermott continues to lead the state in the 400m hurdles, running 53.44 last week to sit US #13. After placing 9th at state last year, he's taken a big step forward and is showing some serious flat-line speed to go with it.
Seals Tay, Clear Creek-Amana - Tay holds the state lead in the 110m hurdles at 13.92, putting him among the top 100 in the country. After an undefeated indoor season in the 60m hurdles, he has carried that momentum into the outdoor season.
Micayla Ramirez, North Scott - Ramirez is a perfect 4-for-4 in the 100m this season and sits pretty with an IA #1 after dropping over half a second from last year. After just one win a season ago, she's quickly turned into one of the top sprinters in the state.
Morgan Karr, Valley - Karr leads the state and sits US #44 in the 100m hurdles, picking up four wins so far this season. She hasn't even hit her PR from last spring yet, which suggests there's still a big performance brewing.

Field Events - Top Performers
Greyson Hartman, Washington - Hartman has been one of the top throwers in the country, ranking US #2 in the shot put while also sitting near the top of the state in discus. With multiple wins in both events already, he's clearly one of the names to watch as we inch closer to the spring showcase.
Daxon Kiesau, Urbandale - Kiesau has been dominant across the throws, winning 8 of 9 competitions and remaining undefeated in the shot put. He also leads the state in the discus at 192-6, continuing a strong all-around season.
Kylee Hill, Burlington - Hill is off to a perfect start, going 4-for-4 across the shot put and discus while picking up multiple wins in both. After winning a state title in the shot put last year and finishing 2nd in discus, she's picked up right where she left off and will be eyeing the biggest prize in the state next month.
Distance Events - Top Performers
Canaan Dunham, Pella - Dunham has racked up wins across all three distance events, securing three in the 800m and two each in the 1,600m and 3,200m. He has yet to run a personal best this spring, and considering his newfound 50-second 400m speed, he looks dangerous as the season comes down to the wire.
Joley Sullivan, Davenport Central - Sullivan has picked up multiple wins across the distance events and currently leads the state in both the 800m and 3K, sitting at US #10 in the 3K. After finishing 4th at state cross country this fall, she's carried that momentum right into track.
Makenna Madetzke, Ankeny - Madetzke remains undefeated through six distance races this season, running 2:14 in the 800m, 4:37 in the 1500m, and 10:14 in the 3K. After a 13th-place finish at state cross country, she's taken a big step forward this spring and will be a contender to win a state title in all three events in May.
