“Projected Top 2012 Iowa HS T&F Teams” Interview – with Mat Beu, head girls track coach, Corning HS Girls, 1A Division
1. Keys to your success as a team in 2012? Has to be a total team effort. We must improve on our areas of success and grow in places where we were unable to score points. If we expect to compete well in the post season we have to improve in the relays and field events.
2. Team goals for 2012? Our goals for 2012 are to compete for the Pride of Iowa Conference and win our Regional meet. If we can do those things we can put our squad in a position to do well at state.
3. Strongest event areas? Our strongest event areas are in the distance races 1500, 3000 as well as the shorts sprints 100, 200.
4. Top returning athletes (and their class & event(s))? Caitlyn Stroud-Senior Sprinter; Kristen Carmichael-Senior Distance; Tiffany Shepherd-Junior Distance
5. Top newcomers (and their class & event(s))? Steph Shuler-Sophomore Sprinter
6. Other top teams in your division? Griswold will be very good again this year. Treynor is probably the most complete team in our area.
