“Projected Top 2012 Iowa High School Track & Field Athletes” Interview -
McKennan Cronbaugh, Junior, Iowa City West HS

1.  When & how did you get started in track & field?  In 5th grade at school and then doing the Hershey Track & Field Games.

2.  Person/people most influential to your success in track & field?  Most of all God because he gave me this talent; and of course my parents, friends and coaches.

3.  Your favorite track & field event?   The long jump, 4x100 and open 100 meters.

4.  Your track & field event coach(es)?  Coach Mike Parker, Peggy Steva, Rachel West and Katie Johnson.

5.  Keys to your successful track and field training program?  My coach pushes me to be my absolute best and he sees what I need to improve on to compete at my very best. My friends push me during the workouts.

6.  Your favorite track & field meet?  The Drake Relays because it’s all of the classes combined so you can really see who's the best.  I also get to watch the collegiate and professional athletes compete.  I aspire to be one of them and can't wait until I can do that.

7. Track & Field athletes you most enjoy competing against?  Anyone who pushes me to be better.

8.  Your greatest experience in track & field so far?  Winning the long jump at state last year, my sophomore year and my first year doing the long jump.

9.  Goals for the 2012 season? Breaking the state all-time record in the long jump, getting a flag at the Drake Relays and repeating as state champion again.

10.  Long-term goals in track & field?  I want to continue doing track in college, but now I'm just trying to take this season one step at a time.
