Heartland Soles Running & Walking Store released updated rankings for the top 20 boys and girls teams for each class across the
state of Iowa. On the boys' side, Prairie High School, Center Point-Urbana High
School, Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central High School, and Madrid High School
are all ranked first in their respective classes. Waukee, Assumption High
School, Albia High School and Logan-Magnolia
High School are each ranked first for their respective classes on the girls'
side. The Carlise High School girls' team made one of the biggest jumps between
the pre-season and current rankings after an impressive second place finish at
the Simpson High School Invitational. They moved from being unranked to 12th
in the Class 3A rankings. In the boys' Class 4A rankings the top 5 teams remain
unchanged, while Iowa City High School is the only new team to join the top 20
ranking at 20th place. Clayton Ridge High School and Sigourney High
School have both moved into the top 20 rankings for the Class 1A girls. Clayton
Ridge had a strong performance at the UIC Conference Indoor Meet. Sigourney
High School had big performances from Autum Barthelman and Paige Thompson to
move them into the rankings. Heartland Soles Running and Walking Store will
continue updating their rankings throughout the season to see what teams are
improving and where they predict they may finish in mid-May.
