IOWA CITY, Iowa - Ashlyn Keeney led the Iowa City Liberty Lightning team to victory here at Regina's Bob Brown Classic. The sophomore's title came one week after she captured one at the Iowa City West Early Bird.
The Tipton boys opened their season with a win behind the first-place finish of Caleb Shumaker (17:03). The Tigers scored 69 points to edge Liberty (73) and Clear Creek Amana (73). Western Dubuque (75) finished fourth.
Keeney completed the course in 18:50. Her Liberty teammates, Camille Mac (20:20) and McKenzie Logan (20:33), finished in second and third, respectively. The Lightning's 48 points easily topped second-place Solon (76). Western Dubuque (88) ended up third.
Clear Creek Amana's Brandon Barker (17:16) came in second on the boys side. Liberty's Jack Kinzer (17:19) was third.
