IOWA CITY, Iowa - Just what Wellman Mid-Prairie Girls Cross Country foes needed - Another Hostetler. Golden Hawk freshman Danielle Hostetler looks like older sisters, Anna and Marie. Better yet, she runs like them.
Her older sisters dominated fields at the Kickers Soccer Complex Course through the years. Danielle did the same on Monday here at the Clear Creek Amana Invitational.
Danielle Hostetler won in 19:45, :42 faster than second-place Sydney Yoder, also of Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks cruised to a team title with 20 points. Second-place Clear Creek Amana scored 77, while Prince of Peace took third with 98.
Clear Creek Amana's Haidyn Barker (20:37) finished third. Mid-Prairie's Mitzi Evans (20:49) and Abby Fleming (21:40) ended up fourth and fifth, respectively.
On the boys side, Clear Creek Amana senior Brandon Barker captured gold with a time of 17:21. The Clippers claimed the team title with 39 points, four better than second-place Mid-Prairie. Cedar Rapids Xavier's 95 were good for third.
Mid-Prairie's Jamison Stutzman (17:38) took second behind Barker, while Clear Creek Amana's Gavin Zillyette (17:44) finished third. Mid-Prairie's Chandler Hershberger (18:09) and Prince of Peace's Marcus Blunt (18:11) rounded out the Top 5.
