Anna Holdiman to Footlocker Nationals

Waverly-Shell Rock’s Anna Holdiman (senior) qualified today (11/24) for an expenses-paid trip to the nation’s most prestigious high school cross country meet, the Footlocker National Championships, to be held at Balboa Park, San Diego, CA on December 8.  Needing to place in the top ten to qualify, Anna placed 6th (5k-17:33) in the seeded race of the Footlocker Midwest Regional Championships (Kenosha, WI), among 273 of the best runners from thirteen Midwest states (Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Mickigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin). 

Congratulations Anna; and enjoy your stay at the luxurious Hotel Del Coronado (Coronado, CA), four days of hanging out with the top 40 HS XC girls and boys in the U.S., culminated by the televised National Championship race on the 8th.

The last Iowa athletes, female or male, to qualify for Footlocker Nationals were Katie Flood and Ashlie Decker, Dowling Catholic in 2009.
