Sydney Winger was diagnosed with heart defects, including a hole in her heart, during infancy. During her early teen years, Winger and her family were told she would never be a track star after struggling through endurance sports. She set out to prove doctors wrong and has become one of the best female track athletes in Iowa this year, taking home multiple Drake Relays titles for the Waukee Warriors. She went on to win the event at the Central Conference Meet and will be the favorite going into Districts and State. Below you can see an interview with Winger after her big 100m Hurdles win at Drake Relays!
