Breakout Races and Upsets Go Down at Luther All-American

At the Luther All-American Invitational, Claire Edmondson of Dubuque Senior clocked a huge 5K PR running 19:03 to win the meet. This was her personal best by over a minute in only her second season of running high school cross country, and was 1:43 faster than what she ran at the same meet last year as a sophomore.

Her time puts her at 15th overall in our individual rankings and 4th in Class 4A. Edmondson led her team to victory at Luther with a team score of 63 points. The team was rounded out by Lily Schmidt in 4th (19:31), Isabelle Gorton in 7th (19:59), Ashley Donovan in 11th (20:07), and Kate Miron in 44th (21:28) with an average team time of 20:00 and a split of 2:14. Edmondson's win is also impressive considering she beat Crestwood's Cassidy Ihns who is ranked 4th overall after running 18:11 at the Newman Catholic Invitational.

On the boys' side, Prairie High School came in strong with Jack Pendergast winning in 16:19 followed by teammate Colton Lagrange in 16:39. Their scoring was rounded out by Hunter Kalous in 14th (17:36), McKade Adams in 17th (17:41), and Ryan Neubauer in 23rd (17:49). They finished with a great team score of 54 points, a 17:14 average, and a split of 1:30. Pendergast's time puts him 14th in our overall individual rankings and 5th for Class 4A.
