Mid-Prairie Girls, Tipton Boys Win Conference




IOWA CITY, Iowa - Marie Hostetler and Caleb Shumaker won their individual races in leading their teams to championships Tuesday afternoon in the River Valley Conference Meet here at the Kickers Soccer Complex. 

Mid-Prairie's Hostetler cruised to victory in 18:31, easily outdistancing her teammate, Mitzi Evans, who finished second in 20:27. West Liberty's Jimena Fierro (20:37), Northeast's Cenady Soenksen (20:38) and Monticello's Emma Althoff (20:44) rounded out the Top 5. 

Tipton's Shumaker crossed the finish line in 16:47 to top Camanche's Dylan Darsidan (16:52) and Bellevue's Brady Griebel (16:59), who placed second and third, respectively. Tipton's Trent Pelzer (17:30) and Northeast's Andrew Hilgendorf (17:41) rounded out the Top 5. 

Mid-Prairie scored 26 points to win the girls race. Regina (74) and Monticello (80) took second and third, respectively. 

On the boys side, Tipton's 31 points topped the 70 scored by second-place Monticello. Camanche claimed third with 123.
