IOWA CITY, Iowa - Ford Washburn made himself at home on Thursday here at the Kickers Soccer Complex. The Iowa City High sophomore raced to victory in the Little Hawks home meet - The Bud Williams Invitational.
Washburn posted a winning time of 16:48 to top Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Lukas Lamparek (16:53) for the boys individual title. Liberty High's Caleb Schillinger (16:56), Pekin's Brady Millikin (17:05) and Clear Creek Amana's Brandon Barker (17:07) rounded out the Top 5 in a strong field.
Liberty took home the team championship with 39 points. City High (51) and Clear Creek Amana (95) were next in line.
Dubuque Senior (27) claimed the girls' title thanks to Rams' Lillian Schmidt (19:10) and Izzy Gorton (19:38) capturing the top two spots in the race. Pleasant Valley (65) and City High (71) finished second and third, respectively.
Pleasant Valley's Bell D'Antico (20:06) earned third place behind the Senior pair. Clear Creek Amana's Haidyn Barker (20:10.3) and Senior's Lucia Nelson (20:10.4) were next.
