“Projected Top 2012 Iowa High School Track & Field Athletes” Interview -
 Joe Carber, Senior, Central Clinton, DeWitt High School

1.   When & how did you get started in track & field?   I got started in track & field when I was in seventh grade.  I did it because at a young age I wanted to try every sport, and it seemed like one I could excel in.

2.     Person/people most influential to your success in track & field?   My coach is probably my most influential person in track because he is the one who pushes me to do my best and reach new heights.

3.      Your favorite track & field event(s)?  My favorite track & field event is the shot put.

4.      Your track & field event coach(es)?   Coach Block (throws), Coach Birt (middle distance/distance), Coach Foxen (hurdles), Coach Lansing (sprints).

5.       Keys to your successful track & field training program?  We have hard workers and a lot of talent to move around and compete at any event.

6.      Your favorite track & field meet?  My favorite track meet is the State meet.

7.      Track & field athlete(s) you most enjoy competing against

8.      Your greatest experience in track & field so far?   Sophomore year being first at state with one thrower left, but he got a great throw and beat me anyway.

9.      Goals for the 2012 track & field season?   Goals for the 2012 season is to place top three at the Drake Relays and first at State.

10.    Long-term goals in track & field?   I may want to throw in college but I’m not sure.
